Into the Future with Dr. Eugene and Sherry May

May 5, 2012

Dr. Eugene and Sherry May will be ministering at a series of meeting at Amherst Christian Church on June 9th, 10th 11th. The meetings will be carry the them, “INTO THE FUTURE.” The meeting on Friday, Saturday will be at 7:00 PM. The Sunday meeting will be at 10:30 AM.  All meetings will be on the Amherst Christian Church Campus located at 134 Hollis Road, in Amherst, NH 03031

Dr. Eugene and Sherry May are the founders of Eagles Wings, Inc., a teaching and missions oriented ministry with the purpose of ministering to the Church and establishing and encouraging relationships between leaders around the world.

Their ministries have historically resulted in changed lives,  salvations, Holy Spirit baptisms, healings and miracles.

Eugene (Gene) and Sherry are recognized internationally for their apostolic, prophetic, teaching and music ministry. He is based in Tampa, Florida in the United States and is the president and founder of Eagles Wings, Inc., an international ministry with a vision for world harvest and equipping and challenging the Body of Christ.

Gene and Sherry May are no strangers to New Hampshire. They have ministered at Amherst Christian Church and other church is the New England area for many years. We are pleased to have them return once again and are confident that the Lord will use them to bring a prophetic word for the season and signs and wonders will follow the preaching of the word.

Yesterday, some long time friends visited with my wife and I. The wife reminded me of a prophecy that was spoken over her by Gene some years ago and over her daughter some years later. She recalled how her daughter was unable to conceive for many years. But she remember the prophecy that had been spoken over her and held fast to God’s promise. She is due to deliver her second child in the next few months.

For a number of reasons we do not have many guest ministries at Amherst Christian Church. We would have many more if they were like the Mays.

Looking forward to seeing you in June.

The Intentional Disciple

March 4, 2012

According to Jesus, making disciples is a command to all believers.

(Matthew 28:18-20) 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

I recently came across a gospel tract I wrote some 25 years ago entitled, “Can I Call Myself a Christian”. I was reminded that back then most Americans considered themselves Christians and it was a generally accepted fact that America was a Christian nation– “One nation under God…”Not to long ago President Obama declared that we are not a Christian nation. To his comment I would reply, “We may be on a downward spiral towards secularism but we haven’t hit bottom yet.” And besides, if I read my Bible correctly, God is still on the throne and it’s not over until He says it’s over.

There are a number of factors that contributed to the decline of America as a Christian nation. We can look back at the cultural revolution of the “Sixties” that brought the  ”free love” “Hippie” movement that worked against traditional values. But we would have to recognize the “Jesus Movement” that brought many of the young people who were disillusioned with the new culture into  churches in droves. Coupled with the ”Charismatic Movement” that found fertile ground in most existing Liturgital, main line Protestant, and Evangelical churches, Christianity was on the rise and the call to be a disciple, a true follower of Christ, was common.

Then someone somewhere noticed that the commitment and zeal of the new believers was not found in many who were in the pre-existing church attenders. It’s always been the way of religious folk not to shake the status-quo. Jesus put it in the terms of new wine as apposed to old wine.

(Luke 5:36-39)  36 And He was also telling them a parable: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old. 37 “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined. 38 “But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. 39 “And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, ‘The old is good enough.’”

And so it is today. We all agree that we need to make disciples, but the decline of the church gives evidence to the contrary. We all agree that God wants strong marriages and families, but few do something intentional about causing either of these to become a reality in the church.

THERE IS GOOD NEWS: God has provided a pathway to intentionally make disciples and build strong marriages and families and it is available to any who choose to follow Him fully and enter into the promised blessings.

Our church is committed to these ends. if you are not presently attending a gospel preaching church, you are invited to join us on our JOURNEY to become a disciple and build a strong marriage and family.

Through a variety of pathways that include worship, disciple groups, small groups, and outreaches, we are making disciples as we work together to see Christ formed in us as we bring Christ in us into our families, friendships, work places and communities.

We invite you to take the JOURNEY with us.

Grace to all,

Pastor Ron

DISCIPLE GROUPS

February 1, 2012

The formation of disciple groups is  progressing. These groups focus on the spiritual formation. They do not function as The long-term goal of these groups is to form Christ in the group participants.

(Galatians 4:19) My children, with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you–

Disciple groups are limited in size to 3-4 members. The groups are relational in their nature and provide an opportunity for members to discover their personal starting points for the discipling journey. This permits a customized growth plan to be developed for each member.

We are engaged in the process and are seeing promising results. We have been working with Praxis and Natural Church Development (NCD) resources that provide guidelines, materials and a proven process to develop true follows of Christ.

Truthfully, I am very excited about the path the Lord is leading us on.

Making Disciples

February 1, 2012

 DISCIPLE ON THE WAY

In the early New Testament church the followers of Christ were called disciples. The apostle Paul ministered in the church at Antioch it was there that the disciples were first called “Christians”.

(Acts 11:26) and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And it came about that for an entire year they met with the church, and taught considerable numbers; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

Every Christian is called to be a “Disciple”. Becoming a disciple is a “process” which engages us with God and others who are committed to following Christ in carrying out the “Great Commission”. We use the term, “Disciple on the Way,” because becoming a disciple is a process that places us on a “journey” that engages us in living out the “irreducible Core”, or the IC, which is:  Love God, Love Your Neighbor and  Make Disciples”.

The Discipling-Making Group:  A disciple group consists of 3 to 4 individuals who come from different families and experiences who find themselves at different places in their spiritual journeys. Having a group of this size enables us to customize the discipling process. In other words what does the individual need for his/her next steps on their spiritual journey. The journey is a process of spiritual formation that has as the goal of living out the “IC” or being conformed to the image of Christ.

                                              (Romans 8:29) For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son,                                                  that He might be the first-born among many brethren;

Parents- Grandparents- Meet and Greet- Sunday, June 5th

May 23, 2011

Parents, Empty Nesters and members of the transition team interested in helping us develop a process for disciplining children are in great demand. In many instances new and struggling parents are like Froto who in the Fellowship of the Rings volunteers to carry out the mission but doesn’t know the way.

Discipling Our Children

May 6, 2011

On Sunday May 15th, parents with children ages 2-5 and 6-12 were requested to meet with pastor and leadership teams directly following the service to discuss the process of making our children disciples of Jesus Christ. (A disciple is a person who has come to know and love God, their neighbor and is making disciples.)  This will require a radical change from what we and many churches and parents do to train up their children in the admonition and nurture of the Lord.

The presentation will challenge parents and other gifted members of the church to engage in discipling children.

The presentation on the 15th laid out a scriptural process that included incremental steps to accomplish our goal. It will be necessary for the parents and members of the leadership team to develop metrics to guide the  process. The metrics will permit us to judge the progress by the fruit that is produced in the lives of our children and parents.

The biblical philosophy was laid out during the May 15, 2011, Sunday sermon.

As we move forward in the discipleship process it would be profitable to consider the following:

  • Every member of humanity that interacts with our children has the potential of  depositing something positive or negative in their lives.
  •  Parents have the greatest influence on their children. In a very real sense God has engaged them in the creative process of forming their character, including manors, philosophy, work ethic, and spiritual formation,(Genesis 18:19) “For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.”(Ephesians 6:4)  And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
  •  It is only logical that parents must be discipled, encouraged and reinforced by the members of the body of Christ if they are disciple their children to be true followers of Christ.
  • After our initial meeting it became obvious that it would take a concerted effort on the part of those who have successfully raised children and the and those graced with the ministry gifts enumerated in Ephesians 4 to participate with parents to accomplish our goal.
